We all spend months and months planning our weddings and ensuring that no details may have been overlooked. Through the chaos of planning, organizing, and shopping, one huge detail is often overlooked. What are you going to wear on your wedding night!?
Bridal lingerie is the most frequently ‘forgotten’ aspect of the wedding planning process. We buy our perfect dress, arrange for perfect hair and makeup, and spend hours decorating the hall and sending out invitations. We find the best caterers and photographers; spend hours planning the perfect honeymoon; but somehow we manage to overlook the most important aspect of all, our wedding night!
What wedding night is complete without a special outfit to wear for your new husband? Bridal lingerie comes in a variety of different styles. While bridal lingerie is typically white, many brides choose to go with alternative colors that best represent their personalities.
Many brides choose a Corset for their special evening, while many others choose less constricting bridal lingerie such as Babydolls and Teddies, which are easier to slip into and are typically more comfortable.
When choosing your outfit for your special night, there are many things to take into consideration. The most important being; what are you most comfortable in? If you have never worn a Corset, it may be a disastrous choice for your wedding night. Lacing a corset on your own takes practice and patience. If it is your first time wearing a corset, you will most likely need another person to assist you in lacing it. Bridal Corsets are visually stunning, waist slimming, and extremely sexy, however they do take some practice getting in to. If you’ve never worn a Corset, you may want to look at other alternatives for your bridal lingerie.
Bustiers are a common alternative to Corsets. They are less constricting, typically feature underwire support as well as those sexy garter straps we all love! They are much easier to get in and out of on your own, and are an extremely sexy form of bridal lingerie. Babydolls are another great alternative! They are made from a variety of fabrics, the most common being sheer and lace fabrics. This form of bridal lingerie typically features a loose fitting, nightgown style top with a matching pair of panties. Teddies are another bridal lingerie alternative. They are a one-piece form of lingerie. They are typically more risqué than a babydoll or bustier. Gowns are yet another great alternative; however tend to be a less common choice for wedding night attire.
White is the most traditional color for bridal lingerie, however many women choose to go with colors that best suit their own personalities! Whether you’re choosing white, black, red or purple lingerie, just remember to choose something that you will be comfortable in.
With all the pressures of planning the perfect wedding, we often forget about our wedding night. Nothing creates a more romantic, memorable wedding night than some candles, a bottle of champagne, and the perfect piece of bridal lingerie!
